Ambassadorial Scholarships of the Rotary Foundation is the oldest and well-known scholarship program. It was created in 1947. Thanks to these scholarships every year near 38 000 of people go abroad to study. It is the biggest international scholarship program in the world. Students from near 70 countries go to study to other 70 countries.
The destination of this program is to develop and to improve relationship between different countries. It helps to increase understanding between citizens of various countries. During their studies abroad, students try to understand peculiarities of culture and mentality of the host country. After returning, students share their impressions and experience with other Rotarians.
The Rotary foundation offers three types of scholarships:
- Scholarship in amount of $25,000 in order to pay one year of studies at foreign country. This money are destined to pay education, transportation, living expenses and other related things.
- Two-year educational program, which presupposes scholarship in amount of $12,500 each year.
- Cultural scholarship, which can lasts either three months or six months. If it is three months program, you receive $12,000, if it is six months program, you receive $17,000. The purpose of these programs is to give students the possibility to learn new language and become a little bit acquainted with the culture of host country. As for languages for learning, you can choose among Arabic, French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Hebrew, Russian, Polish, Swedish and Swahili.
