Making the good decisions about getting college scholarships must not be avoided and delayed. Summer is really a right time to start or carry on your “treasure hunt.”
Going to the beach. Driving the park for a great picnic. Watching a baseball game. Visiting the favourite fishing hole. All these are wonderful summertime activities. Other ones include painting and cutting the grass or washing the car. So we anticipate them all with great passion. When the weather is warm (without a doubt about this fact), thoughts turn to all these outdoor events.
However, one activity that is forgotten by lots of college-bound teenagers and their parents is the inside travel of hunting for educational scholarships, searching for many scholarship dollars, starting the quest for finances that will considerably reduce and eliminate college debt. So this occurs for some reasons. First, of course it is very easy to forget since summer is today and scholarships are somewhere in the future, in the distant future I would say. Second, my student is not clever enough to get a scholarship. Therefore, why bother considering it now and ever. Third: our child hasn’t any desire to attend college. Fourth, the family income is very high. However, all these ideas are bogus. Summer is actually the best time for starting scholarship activities since there isn’t any rush to get your job done. So, you can take some time to do what is necessary leisurely and thoroughly. But rushing creates anxiety which in its turn creates mistakes.
Some students are actually slow in developing. And the first several years produce rather mediocre outcomes, whereas the junior or senior years can produce above average ones. And, remember this, scholarship committees frequently regard the last one or two years as more significant than the first ones!
